Lindsey Smith is a museum and non-profit consultant based in Des Moines, Iowa.

 

Founded in 2009, Exhibitsmith draws upon Lindsey’s dozen years of experience working with museums, archives, historical societies, and related organizations. Past employers include: the Museum of Science and Industry, the Des Moines University Archives, the Amherst Museum, and the Illinois Regional Archives Depository. While on staff at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, Lindsey had the opportunity to work on large-scale exhibit projects including: the Aviation Gallery,Henry Crown Space CenterU-505 SubmarineLeonardo da Vinci: Man, Inventor, Genius and many more.

Lindsey co-chairs the Iowa Museum Association Exhibits Committee and is a Technical Advisory Network (TAN) Advisor for the State Historical Society of Iowa’s Historical Research Development Program (HRDP). An increasingly sought-out speaker, she also leads preservation and exhibit development workshops for a variety of professional and community organizations and has taught history at the college level.

Lindsey received a BA in History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MA in Historical Administration from Eastern Illinois University, and completed graduate coursework in archives and records administration at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
